Run the day with Day of
Put the event day on your phone and your lock screen: a timeline with fixed moments, a live status line, alerts, and a shot list you can run shot by shot.
Updated October 13, 2026
Day of is the plan for the event itself: every moment of the day in order, with the ones the venue fixed marked as such, and a status line that tells you whether you are on time. It lives on the project's Day of tab on the web and on the Day screen in the Gliss app, and the app puts it on your iPhone's Lock Screen so you can glance at it without unlocking.
Your client co-edits the same timeline from their portal, so the planner's day and the couple's additions are one list.
Build the day
- Open the project and choose Day of.
- Add a moment with its time, a length in minutes if you know it, a title, and the location and note your crew will want to read.
- Mark the moments the venue fixed as Fixed by the venue: the ceremony, a sunset, the grand entrance, the send-off. Fixed moments never move; when the day runs late, the moments before one are squeezed to fit and marked Tight.
A moment with no length runs until the next one starts. The last moment of the day runs thirty minutes.
Note
Outdoor days care about the light. Add the venue's coordinates under Sunset & golden hour on the Day of tab, and the day in the app shows Golden hour and Sunset between the moments they fall between.
Import the planner's timeline
On the Day of tab, choose Import a timeline and paste the planner's email or upload their PDF. Gliss reads it into moments, people and shots, shows you the list to check, and adds what you keep. Nothing is added until you confirm.
Follow the day on your phone
In the week around the event date, the project screen in the app shows a Day of row. On the event date itself, the Next up row on Home opens the day directly.
The day advances on its own as the clock passes each moment's time. The current moment opens up with its note, its location and its shots. Under the title you will see the one line that matters:
- On schedule · 22 min buffer before Ceremony when nothing has slipped (just On schedule when no fixed moment is ahead).
- 8 min behind · 22 min buffer before Ceremony when the day is late but the next fixed moment still has room.
- 8 min behind · no buffer before Ceremony when the room is used up exactly.
- 5 min behind at Ceremony when the fixed moment will start late.
- 4 min ahead when you are running early.
When a moment starts late or early
Hold Hold to mark started on the current or next moment. This records when it actually began, and every later moment slides by the same amount. Fixed moments hold their time, and anything squeezed against one gets a Tight mark so you can see it coming. You have ten seconds to tap Undo if you held it by mistake.
Note
You never have to mark a moment started. The clock moves the day for you. Marking only tells Gliss that reality drifted from the plan.
Put the day on your Lock Screen
Gliss adds a Lock Screen widget and a Live Activity. The widget shows the current moment, its note (or what is next) and the status line, and keeps flipping between moments even when the app is closed. The Live Activity is the larger banner at the bottom of the Lock Screen with a progress bar through the current moment; in the Dynamic Island it shows the minutes to the next moment.
- Press and hold your Lock Screen, tap Customize, then Lock Screen.
- Tap the widget area under the clock, find Gliss, and add Day of.
- On the event date, open the day in Gliss. The banner appears on its own; if you dismissed it, tap Show on lock screen.
Tapping the banner or the island opens the day in Gliss.
Alerts
Gliss sends a quiet notification when each moment's time comes, and a sounded one ten minutes before each fixed moment. They move with the day: if you mark a moment started late, the alerts for everything after it move too.
Run the shot list
The shot list is part of the Creative Suite. Shots belong to sections ("Family formals") and to a moment, and each one names who is in it.
Open All shots from the day. In Full list, tap the circle to tick a shot. In Shot by shot, one shot is in frame at a time with Steps in and Steps out worked out against the last shot you finished, so you know who to call over and who can go. Tap Done, next shot to move on, Previous shot to bring the last one back, or Skip, which asks why: Come back later (it goes to the end of its section), Not doing this one, or Someone is missing (pick who).
Share a live page with your crew
Your crew and vendors can follow the day from a web page with no account. On the Day screen in the app, tap Share live link; on the web, press Share live link on the Day of tab (it reads Copy live link after the first time). Anyone with the link sees the timeline, the status line and the shots, updating about every ten seconds.
A crew member who wants to tick shots or mark a moment started taps Join as a contributor and enters their name. You get a notification and approve them (or tap Not now) from the day on your phone. From then on everything they do is recorded with their name: the shot shows who ticked it, and your activity feed shows Shot captured with the shot's name and by Sam. On the web Day of tab you can Remove a guest, make a New link (the old one stops working and everyone asks again), or Turn off the page.
Not yet. Edit the time and the day sorts itself, or use Move up and Move down on the web Day of tab.
Yes. The widget's day is scheduled ahead from the last sync, so it keeps flipping between moments without the network. Ticks and marks you make offline are not saved: Gliss tells you right away, and you repeat them once you have signal.
iOS ends a Live Activity after eight hours. On the event date, open the day in Gliss and it starts again where the day is.
