Project types and lead sources
Classify the work you take on so journeys run automatically, and record where each lead came from so the reports can tell you what's working.
Updated August 28, 2026
Two small lists sit behind a lot of what Gliss does on its own: project types decide which journey runs, and lead sources are how the reports tell you where your work comes from.
Project types
A project type is the kind of work a project is — a wedding, a brand shoot, a consultation.
Set them up under Settings → Project types. Each one can carry a journey, and that is the point of the whole list: when you create a project of that type, its journey starts automatically. A type with no journey attached is still useful for grouping, it just doesn't set anything running.
You can also pick or change a project's type later, on the project's Details tab.
If a journey didn't run
The usual reason is that the project has no type, or its type has no journey attached. Open Settings → Project types and check the Journey field on the type in question.
Renaming and archiving
Renaming a type is safe — the identifier underneath it (shown in grey beside the name) never changes, so any inquiry form pointing at that type keeps working.
Archiving takes a type out of the pickers for new work. Projects already using it keep it, and you can restore an archived type at any time.
Lead sources
A lead source is the channel a project arrived through — a past client's referral, Instagram, a wedding directory, your own site.
Set them up under Settings → Lead sources. Each one has a kind (referral, paid, organic, social, directory, direct, other), which is what the profitability report groups by — so a handful of well-chosen kinds is worth more than a long list all marked "other".
Lead sources get recorded two ways:
- Asked. If your inquiry form includes a "How did you hear about us?" question, the client's own answer wins.
- Inferred. Otherwise Gliss works it out from the link they arrived on.
Retiring a source removes it from the pickers without disturbing anything already attributed to it, so past reports stay intact.
Why the field is sometimes missing
If you have no lead sources set up yet, the New Project form leaves the field out rather than showing you a dropdown with nothing in it. Add one here and it appears.
